How to Sign a PDF Online
Send or complete a PDF signature in the browser with Cepe Sign — a review link, comments, and a signed PDF, without Acrobat or a printed page.
Signing a PDF online should not mean printing, scanning, or buying Acrobat. It means: the file stays a PDF, the signer uses a browser, and you get a signed copy back.
Cepe Sign does that. You send a secure review link for comments and signatures. Recipients do not need Cepe Paper or Adobe installed. You keep the signed PDF with the project.
Before you send anything
Finish the document first. A signature on the wrong draft is worse than no signature.
If the work is still in Word or Cepe Paper document mode, export to PDF. If you have several files (cover plus terms), Merge them in PDF tools so there is one packet to sign. If you only need pages 4–6, Split those out first.
Creator includes a monthly Sign allowance. Professional and above include unlimited Cepe Sign. Free does not include Sign — upgrade from the dashboard when you are ready to send a live request.
Send a PDF for signature
Open Cepe Paper in the browser or on the desktop. Start a Cepe Sign request from the PDF you want signed.
Add the people who must review or sign. Send the review link. They open it online, leave comments if they need to, and sign.
When they finish, you get a signed PDF. Save it with the project or to Cepe Cloud. Do not rely on hunting the last email attachment six months later.
Name the file like a record: “Agreement-signed.pdf”, not “scan3”.
If you received a link
You do not need an account to complete a typical Sign request. Open the link in a current browser. Read the pages. Sign where you are asked. Submit.
If something in the PDF is wrong, comment instead of signing a file you do not agree with. A signature is the last step, not a way to mark “please fix clause 4.”
What this is — and is not
Cepe Sign is built for everyday agreements, proposals, and approvals: a review link, a signature, a signed PDF.
It is not a claim that every jurisdiction treats every click as a wet-ink original, and it is not a substitute for a lawyer when the document requires a specific certificate or in-person notarization. Use the process your contract and local law actually call for.
Do not photograph a printout and call it “signed online.” That is a scan with extra steps.
After it is signed
Keep the signed PDF. Keep the unsigned source if you will issue a new version later. If you need another signer, send a new request rather than editing a signature off the page.
If the file still needs a one-line text fix, you waited too late. Change the source, export a new PDF, and Sign again.
A short workflow
Export or merge the final PDF. Send it with Cepe Sign. The other person opens the link and signs in the browser. You save the signed PDF.
That is how to sign a PDF online: one file, one link, no printer — and a copy you can find when someone asks for it next quarter.
