This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) supplements our Terms of Service. By using the Services, you agree to this AUP. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings in the Terms.
1. Scope
This AUP applies to the Cepe Paper desktop application, online editor, member dashboard, website, community forum, cloud sync, collaboration features, Cepe Sign, Activity Tracker, Cepe AI (CAI), support channels, and any other products or services operated by Cepe (collectively, the “Services”).
2. Permitted use
Subject to your plan, active subscription or license, and the Terms, you may use the Services to:
- Create, edit, present, calculate, and export your own documents, slide decks, spreadsheets, and PDFs for lawful personal, educational, or business purposes
- Install and run the desktop app on computers you own or control, within device or seat limits of your plan or license key
- Store projects locally and, when your plan includes it, sync files to Cepe cloud storage or third-party storage you authorize
- Use built-in templates, themes, fonts, and export formats for your own work product
- Use collaboration and team features only as enabled for your account and only with people you are permitted to invite
- Use Activity Tracker only if you are authorized by your organization, only for lawful workforce oversight, and only with appropriate notice to monitored team members where required by law
- Use CAI within plan limits and in accordance with our AI Disclaimer
- Back up and export your content in supported formats
3. Prohibited use
You may not use the Services, or assist others to use the Services, to:
- Access the Services without a valid account, or use a desktop build without a valid license or membership when required
- Share, sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the app, installers, license keys, or credentials except as expressly allowed for team or enterprise plans
- Circumvent license checks, seat limits, export limits, storage quotas, CAI usage caps, or other technical or billing restrictions
- Copy, modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of the Services or their components, except where applicable law gives you a non-waivable right to do so
- Remove, obscure, or alter copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
- Upload, store, sync, share, or publish content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, hateful, fraudulent, infringing, or that violates another person's privacy or intellectual property rights
- Introduce malware or harmful code, or attempt unauthorized access to Cepe systems, other users' accounts, or connected services
- Automate access (scraping, bulk harvesting, credential stuffing) except through documented APIs we provide and authorize
- Impersonate another person or organization, or misrepresent the source or ownership of content
- Use CAI to generate or distribute illegal, harmful, or deceptive material, or to provide regulated professional advice without qualified human review
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services, servers, or networks (including denial-of-service or excessive load)
- Use the Services primarily to build a competing product, or to benchmark or publish performance results without our prior written consent
- Violate applicable laws or third-party rights
- Send spam, unsolicited messages, or abusive communications through Cepe features
- Misuse payment, referral, affiliate, or support systems
- Use Activity Tracker for covert surveillance, harassment, discrimination, or monitoring without authority or required notice
- Attempt to expand Activity Tracker beyond its documented scope (for example by pairing it with unauthorized screen-capture or keylogging tools)
4. Your content and responsibilities
You are responsible for content you create, upload, sync, or share. You must have all rights necessary to use and share that content, including compliance with employer policies and third-party licenses for fonts, images, data, and templates you import.
We do not routinely monitor all user content but may review material when investigating abuse reports, security incidents, or legal obligations.
5. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations, remove or restrict content, suspend or terminate accounts, revoke license keys, withhold affiliate rewards, or take other action we reasonably believe is necessary to protect the Services, users, and third parties.
Repeated or serious violations may result in permanent termination without refund, except where required by law.
6. Reporting abuse
To report abuse, security issues, or copyright concerns, contact us via security / abuse. Include relevant URLs, account identifiers, and a clear description of the issue.
7. Changes
We may update this AUP. We will post revisions on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
