How to Convert Word to PDF
Open a .docx or a Cepe Paper document, check the pages, and export a PDF anyone can open — in the browser or on the desktop.
A Word file is for editing. A PDF is for sending. Converting Word to PDF means: lock the look so the other person sees the same headings, spacing, and page breaks you approved.
You do not need Microsoft Word or Acrobat for that step. Open the document in Cepe Paper and export to PDF. The Free plan includes that export.
Open the Word file
If you already work in Cepe Paper, open the document in the studio — web or desktop.
If someone sent a .docx, import it. Cepe Paper opens Word-style documents so you can review before you export. A .doc from an older Office version may need to be saved as .docx first, or rebuilt if the import is messy.
Do not export from a file you have not opened. Conversion is only as good as the page you see on screen.
Check the page before you export
Look at headings, page breaks, headers, and images. A PDF will freeze whatever is there — including a stray extra blank page.
If fonts look wrong, the original used a typeface you do not have. Pick a family that is on your machine (or a standard one) so the PDF does not substitute something wider and push a line.
If you still need to change a paragraph, do it in the document. Exporting first and editing the PDF is the long way around.
Export the PDF
Use export to PDF from the studio. Choose a clear file name. Open the PDF once and scroll every page.
That proof pass is the whole quality check. If page two starts mid-sentence, fix the document and export again. Keep the .docx or Cepe Paper file. The PDF is the copy you attach.
You can export from the browser or the desktop app. Save the project to Cepe Cloud if you will finish the send from another device.
After the PDF exists
Send the PDF when the recipient only needs to read or print. Use Cepe Sign when they need to comment or sign — they do not need Word or Acrobat to finish that.
If you must change a date later, edit the source document and export a new PDF. That keeps formatting honest. Fighting the PDF is for when the Word file is gone.
When Word-to-PDF is the wrong move
If the other person must edit the prose, send the document or a .docx, not a PDF. If they only need a table, a spreadsheet export may be clearer than a paginated PDF of a grid.
Complex print jobs (press color, crop marks) still belong in a specialist toolchain. Everyday proposals, letters, resumes, and reports do not.
A short workflow
Open or import the Word file in Cepe Paper. Fix fonts and page breaks. Export to PDF. Open the PDF and check every page. Keep the source.
That is how to convert Word to PDF: approve the document, freeze it as a PDF, and send the travel copy — not the only copy.
